HR Generalist Opening-JCC Northbrook, IL

    The HR Generalist is responsible for providing guidance and support in areas of HR including benefits administration, onboarding and offboarding management,  HRIS reporting, policy/procedure documentation, and employment and regulatory compliance. You will utilize your HR functional expertise to align critical human resources principles with business objectives.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Support the strategic initiatives through consistent execution of company HR practices and policies.
    • Work collaboratively with payroll, talent acquisition and HR team members.
    • Maintain awareness of and compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws.
    • Interpret and explain human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards, or regulations.
    • Maintain employee record-keeping and confidentiality.
    • Coordinate employee assessments and performance management process within HRIS system.
    • Provide excellent customer service by responding to employee's requests and questions via phone and email in a timely manner.
    • Maintain company intra net and update information as needed.
    • Process background checks and employment verifications for new hires.
    • Process new hire paperwork, benefit enrollment/changes and employee status changes in the electronic HRIS System.
    • Gather data and process Human Resource monthly reports.
    • Assist the HR Operations Manager with the annual benefit open enrollment and employee communications.
    • Prepare responses to unemployment claims.
    • Perform special HR projects as needed.
    • Help prepare for quarterly New Hire Orientation.
    • Work with Human Resource team to ensure all ongoing projects are handled and employees are assisted.
    • Assists with creating and running HRIS and benefits related reports.
    • Acts as a backup to the HR Operations Manager, as needed.

    Essential Job Duties/Physical Requirements:

    • Repetitive movement of arms and hands to operate computer, keyboard and mouse.
    • Ability to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
    • Ability to operate equipment such as phone, computer keyboard, calculator and standard office equipment.
    • Vision: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
    • React with physical and mental alertness in emergency situations and assist in evacuation of building.


    Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm



    • Bachelor's degree required or working towards, with 1+ years of Human Resources experience.
    • Thorough knowledge and proficiency in use of HRIS, preferably UltiPro or similar systems.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Able to adapt in a fast-paced work environment and escalate issues as needed.
    • Efficient problem solver who is deadline driven and detailed oriented.
    • Demonstrates sound judgment, prioritization and decision making.
    • Ability to multi-task, demonstrates excellent time management and follow-up skills.
    • Exhibits excellent written/verbal communications and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work closely with a team, as well on your own, with little supervision.
    • Must be able to handle confidential information with the highest level of professionalism.
    • Understanding of data and office file management.
    • Intermediate to advance proficiently in Microsoft Word & Excel.
    • Compliance with state and federal and labor laws.
