    President: Provide leadership to the local chapter consistent with state, regional, and SHRM policy, strategies and objectives.  Effectively operate the chapter so that the needs of the members are met.  Perform other duties as required by the local chapter's bylaws.  Serve as a voting member of the state council.

    Jodi leads the talent management function for a global technology consulting firm. For the past 2 years, she has partnered with the business in areas of strategic planning, digital transformation, engagement, training and development and more. Her previous experience is varied in various industries including professional services, commercial real estate and non-profit. 

    Jodi earned her Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana and a Master’s of Human Resources and Industrial Relations at Loyola in Chicago. She is passionate about education and serves as an adjunct faculty member at Lake Forest Graduate School of Management and Concordia University in River Forest, IL. In addition to teaching, Jodi spearheaded the addition of an HR major in the undergraduate program at Concordia, and authored numerous courses for the undergraduate and graduate MBA program.

    Jodi has been President the Northern Illinois Society for Human Resources in Management (NISHRM) since 2018 and holds her Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) certification, as well as her Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) with SHRM.  Jodi serves on the board of College Bound Opportunities (CBO), as well as mentors a student.

    Past Chapter President: Advise the president and other officers and members of the board of directors regarding past practices, general operations, and other matters to assist in the smooth operation of the chapter.

    Member Engagement/Sponsorship Director

    Member Engagement/Sponsorship Director: Manage all membership engagement and sponsorship activities. Build and develop relationships with community organizations including but not limited to chambers of commerce, attending job fairs, etc. Strong partnership with Membership Director and Communications/Social Media Director.

    Lyssa is a Human Resources Business Professional at MRA - The Management Association. She has partnered with a wide range of organizations to improve recruitment, create or update employee handbooks and training programs, develop the workforce, and transition displaced workers. While focusing on meeting the specific needs identified by leaders, she remains on the alert for further opportunities to use her knowledge of HR best practices to advance the organization’s interests. She has worked in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, distribution, nonprofit, healthcare, retail, e-commerce, and services.  

    Lyssa earned a bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in human relations from the University of Iowa–Iowa City. She also holds a master's degree in teaching from National Louis University, Chicago, Illinois.  

    Lyssa is a member of the board of directors for the Northern Illinois Society for Human Resources in Management (NISHRM) and a member of the Society for Human Resources in Management (SHRM). She also serves as a mentor with College Bound Opportunities (CBO).

    Ceritification Director: Manage the chapter’s HRCI and SHRM certification program. Increase the number of chapter members who are certified as SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP by the SHRM Certification Commission. Encourage members to become certified and recertified.           

    Laurie’s 30 years of HR experience includes leadership roles in a variety of organizations such as Dean Foods, SUPERVALU, and most recently MRA.  She also owned an HR consulting company called Diamond HR Group for 10 years.  Laurie earned a Bachelor’s Degree from St. Norbert College in De Pere, WI and an MBA from Keller Graduate School in Chicago, IL.  Areas of HR expertise include: succession planning, training, outplacement, recruiting, employee benefits, employee relations, investigations, audits, and strategic retention strategies.               


     Lorraine Harris
    College Relations & Scholarship Director

    College Relations & Scholarship Director: Manage all college relations including scholarship program, and college outreach efforts. Plan event for students in coordination with Membership Director and other board members.   

    Lorraine is currently the Director of Human Resources for the Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center in Waukegan, Illinois.  With over 30 years of Human Resources experience, her primary focus is on providing agency-wide leadership and direction in employee relation issues, performance management, recruitment and retention, and manages all EEOC and employment litigation matters.  Her efforts are focused on strategies to create an inclusive environment, to increase the level of employee engagement, productivity, retention of staff and workplace wellness.  

    She holds certifications as a Professional in Human Resources and a Society for Human Resource Management Certification Professional. Lorraine serves on the board for Northern Illinois Society for Human Resource Management (NISHRM) as a College Relations Chair and is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management.

    Michelle is the Senior HR Generalist at MBX Systems in Libertyville, IL. In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with family, cooking/baking, nature hikes, and listening to good music.

    Communications & Social Media Director: Manage NISHRM website in its entirety. Provide timely and comprehensive information to chapter members about programs, workshops, and other matters of interest via chapter publications.  Create and maintain a favorable image of the chapter working for the professional development of its members by: (a) keeping membership informed of chapter projects, activities and upcoming meetings, and (b) disseminating relevant professional information viewed as beneficial to the members.  Lead all communications for the chapter. Strong partnership with Treasurer/Secretary.

    Karen has over 20 years of Human Resources experience and has been a member of NISHRM for nine (9) years. She is currently employed with Komax Corporation as a Human Resources Manager. Her hobbies include travel, hiking, reading and spending time with family and friends.


    Kathryn Hartrick
    Legislative Director & Government Affairs Director

    Lesiglative & Government Affairs Director: Serve as an appointed/elected member of the chapter leadership. Monitor and evaluate on a continuing basis pending legislative, regulatory and legal action at the federal, state, and local level that may have an impact on the management of human resources. Work in close cooperation with Conference/Event Director.

    KATHRYN M. HARTRICK, JD & AWI-CH, is the founder and managing partner of Hartrick Employment Law, Ltd.  She delivers legal solutions in the areas of investigations, training/coaching, and employment law counseling.  Kathryn combines over 25 years of employment law expertise with 15 years first-hand knowledge of business needs as a senior corporate counsel and HR officer with global publicly traded corporations such as Career Education, Wolters Kluwer and United Stationers/Essendant.  She is also General Counsel/Vice President for the global coaching firm, Robertson Lowstuter.  

    In addition to being a former law firm partner, Kathryn has taught Employment Discrimination at Loyola University School of Law, and served as Deputy Commissioner for the City of Chicago Commission on Human Relations discrimination agency.  She is a member (and instructor) of the Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI) and International Coach Federation (ICF).  Other recognitions include:  elected Fellow to the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, a recognition by colleagues of sustained outstanding performance in the profession that exemplifies integrity, dedication, and excellence; Illinois Super Lawyer by Super Lawyers Magazine; and Martindale-Hubbell "AV" rating, the highest ranking in legal ability and ethical standards as determined by lawyer peers.  Her law degree is from Case Western Reserve University School of Law where she served on the Law Review, and she has a BBA from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business.

    Events & Coference Director: Manage events and potential conference programs for the chapter. Research potential speakers and topics and serve as liaison to speakers. Work in coordination with Communications/Social Media Director.

    Vicki is excited to be serving our NISHRM chapter as Events/Conference Director!  She has extensive HR and Talent Development experience with various companies in the Chicagoland area and was in one of the first cohorts to receive her SHRM-SCP Certification.  She has also worked in outplacement and career development and invite any members in transition to reach out!


    Linda Jonesi
    Membership Director

    Membership Director: Manage the membership function to successfully achieve an increase in chapter membership. Guide the activities of the following committees:  volunteers, membership, membership directory, awards, and hospitality. Work closely with treasurer and Communications Director for coordination of functions.

    Linda has an extensive Human Resources background, which includes working with Fortune 500, Non-Profit, and private companies - supporting multi-state operations with union and non-union environments.  She has been active in the HR community in various organizations and is excited to bring her knowledge, energy and passion for HR to the NISHRM Board.
